While flying back to Portugal, I remember reading an article in Finnair's inflight magazine "Bluewings" about how to do business in India. The article "All Eyes on India" (page 50) explained very well how companies, which used to look at India as an outsourcing destination, started looking at the country with new eyes: a market of 1 billion consumers.

At the end of the article, a subtitle called my attention: "The Indian invasion" which starts like this:
"Representing another sign of change, the flow of transactions now travels two ways. Indians have been actively buying companies from Europe and are also venturing into emerging markets in Africa and Asia"

The article referred especially to the IT sector. However, there are many others. For example, in the fashion sector, Sacoor, a Portuguese brand was created by 4 brothers with Indian origins.

I only understood how right the article was when I came back to Portugal and took the train to Porto. As soon as I got out of the train station of S.Bento, I was surprised to see the amount of Indian shops everywhere. My first thought was "Why did I go to India, I could have just come here!!!".  From bindis, Indian jewellery to Bryani and Paneer...
